My computer turns off after a while. I discovered that if I used the air conditioner in my room it will always turn off so I guesses it was some kind of power issue. However, today my computer is turning off and everthing is off.
My PC tells me if I boot it a bit after it turning off that I have a "CPU OVERTEMPERATURE ERROR". However if I run a program the data doesn't make a lot of sense as it either tells me that 2 cores of the CPU are at -23 while the other burns or everything is so high it's absurd.
However what I can believe is the power/Aux indicator that reads 100 degrees. Is that the power supply? That's the only hot part of my PC right now. The air coming out of it is hot (Which makes sense) but the CPU fan (which goes almost directly to the outside is at a normal temperature, similar to the room's.
It also seems that my computer turns off sooner while playing because if I don't play I can keep it on forever. This could be related.
What can I do?
EDIT: BTW my voltages are off. The 5v voltage is 4.68, the 12v one is 11.62 and so on, is that a problem?

Re: My PC turns off for no reason
Voltages being a bit off like that isn't great, but I've seen crappy power supplies be off that much and the system was still stable. Some motherboards suck at reporting temperatures too. Speedfan is giving me a nebulous "Temp2" as -2 degrees C right now as well.
Anyting you want to really check temps if your program is giving you odd readings next time it shuts off, go into BIOS and look for PC Health or something similiar. Those will obvoiusly have cooled down if you just shut off and restarted, but if they got high enough to force a shutdown, then they still should look alarming 10-15 seconds later.
You should check if your CPU fan has stopped or is barely spinning. The bearing could have gone out or the heatsink could be clogged up with dust so that its not blowing through properly. The thermal compound could have dried up if you've had your PC for a while too and need to be redone.

Re: My PC turns off for no reason
I remember at Uni my PC turned off for NO REASON other than I was pressing the power button with my big toe in the middle of a FUCKING HUGE ESSAY which I hadn't saved. I hate it when that happens.
Re: My PC turns off for no reason
I had heat troubles for a while with mine. The ventilation in my apartment isn't so great, so dust builds up in the fans quite easily. Have you cleaned it lately? Might not be a bad idea to try getting some of the dust out.

Like Ack said, check all your system fans. If all of them are running, more than likely its a voltage regulation issue of some sort, usually can be fixed by replacing the power supply. If neither of those things work, check back to the power strip.
Re: My PC turns off for no reason
I call clogged up PSU or Heatsink Fan. It's probably a shitty power supply. If the PC is store bought, chances are it's got a shitty power supply, replace it. They love to skimp costs on sucky power supplies when it's the heart of the entire rig, dodgy ticker, dodgy PC.

^ I always say this too, it is entirely true. In fact, most PSU's that you can buy suck too.
I would try taking the CPU fan/heatsink off and cleaning it, then reseating it with new thermal compound.

Re: My PC turns off for no reason (APPARENTLY FIXED)
I discovered the problem, while the PC said "CPU overtemperature" the problem was not the CPU but the power supply, there was a lot of dust and other shit blocking the air entrance.
Now the power temperature reads 30 instead of 120!
Thank you guys!
