Hi guys,
I bought my Dreamcast about 3 years ago, and have about 12 games for it. However, recently, what with the Dreamcat's 10th birthday and all, I've once again become ambitious to expand my collection.
Back then, I was using Planet Dreamcast's best games list because it was nice and varied, having at least 2-5 games per genre, including some obscure ones to help start hunting for the foundations of my collection before going into Racketboy's more focused lists such as best imports or fighters.
However, now the website is down and the list, unfortunately, with it. D:
My question to any of you, is there anybody who has a copy of the list on their computer or perhaps can remember some?
Cheers for your time!
Ducky

As a word of warning, however: that list was compiled during the Dreamcast's commercial lifespan (before Sonic Adventure 2 was released, in fact), thus the shooting genre wasn't very fleshed out yet, meaning that Gunbird 2 made the list. I would not recommend purchasing Gunbird 2, my friend. Supremely mediocre.

Oh! Thank you so much! I didn't even think there would be an archive of it! And I had totally forgotten about the Dreamcast Junkyard's Top 100 list. I had my eye on it in anticipation of 9.9.9, but I totally forgot, so thanks for that too!Barry the Nomad wrote:Voila! The list returns!

Oh, I see. I had always wondered why Sonic Adventure was up there above Sonic Adventure 2. I guess I had just assumed it was my own personal favourite. And as for Gunbird 2, what would you recommend in replacement of it? Is Mars Matrix AOK or would I be better to peer through the Racketboy site's list of Shooters?Original_Name wrote:As a word of warning, however: that list was compiled during the Dreamcast's commercial lifespan (before Sonic Adventure 2 was released, in fact), thus the shooting genre wasn't very fleshed out yet, meaning that Gunbird 2 made the list. Cheers to both of you!

Mars Matrix is great if you like bullet-hell shooters. As far as the shmups library, the Dreamcast's shmup library is REALLY good if either A.) You're okay with burning games or B.) You have a TON of money to spare. I'd start by burning Ikaruga, Border Down, Under Defeat, Zero Gunner 2, and Mars Matrix to try them out, being that they're arguably the best on the system.
