Street Fighter Alpha Anthology

Post by h8b1llg8ts »

Do you really need the PS2 version if you have Street Fighter Alpha 1, 2, Collection, and Puzzle Fighter for the Saturn, also Street Fighter Alpha 3 for the Dreamcast?

Anything extra that is a must have? Also, any online multiplayer??

I'd say no, but what do I know. Sometimes its nice to have all the games on one system. And if you have a 60GB PS3 you can play them at higher resolutions.

It runs in progressive scan which means no annoying lag if you're playing on an HDTV (you hold down triangle and x as the system boots and until you're prompted if you would like to run it in progressive scan), it features all or most of the bonus modes and features found in the PS1 and Saturn versions, all of the games are arcade perfect ports running at 60fps with no loading times whatsoever, you can install the game to your PS2's hard drive (if you have one) and after booting off of the disc the PS2 will automatically switch over to the HDD saving your disc drive from wear and tear,

Also a cool feature is that in the first SF:Alpha game if you go to the sound options it lets you choose between the soundtrack from the original CPS:1 version or the CPS:II re-release.

Oh and it includes Gem Fighter (AKA Pocket Fighter) as a bonus too.
My Consoles:
Genesis - Nomad - SegaCD - GameGear - Sega Saturn - Dreamcast - NES - SNES - N64 - Gamecube - Wii - Playstation - PSone & LCD - PS2 - PS3 - Xbox - 3DS

Yeah, this is what makes the Street Fighter Alpha Anthology awesome!! I like when compilations like this go the extra mile besides just including all titles in a series.. 8)

Agreed.

It's still a shame how Capcom didn't give Street Fighter Anniversary Collection the same treatment, I always have to move my PS2 from the HDTV to the SD set to play SF3:Third Strike without blurring or lag.

Just an fyi, this compilation also features Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper as an unlockable. So you're getting five classic Street Fighter games - SF Alpha, SF Alpha 2, SF Alpha 2 Gold, SF Alpha 3, SF Alpha 3 Upper - and then you also get Gem Fighter, which could be counted as a sixth game.

Personally, I like the Street Fighter Alpha series more than the Marvel/SNK vs Capcom series. So this compilation was like a dream come true, and it only cost me $20 at Gamestop!

I say no because i just hate the blurriness and filtering that was put on many of these PS2 compilations. I like my gaming in low res. Probably won't make a difference if you are just using regular AV cable for your PS2 or saturn.

You can take two seconds to turn the filter off in the settings just like I did.
