I for one am tired of hearing about how every other day someone is fired over his or her zany Facebook party photos. Can't media outlets perceive the fact Facebook (which I will never succumb to using) has become part of everyday life?
So what irks you about social networking?
Does social networking irk you?
Does social networking irk you?
Thy ban hammer shalt strike

An over reliance on it when it is not necessary. I do not feel we all need Twitter accounts, for instance. Sure, they do have some good uses, but truthfully there is a limit to what I want to know about some of my friends, and I'm sure there's a limit as to what they want to know about me.
Take that Penny Arcade, for instance. "Poop is coming out now."

I think it's annoying that I keep getting e-mails from my friends who use Facebook, pestering me to get an account. These e-mails are sent through Facebook, and they irk me!

I never want to sign up at a SNS. It would waste a lot of valuable time that could be better spent playing video games!
Re: Does social networking irk you?
I recently deleted my Facebook account.
Never could stand Myspace.
I like Twitter, but not as obsessed as some.
Twitter is just simpler and it's easier to follow people I'm actually interested, but not necessarily know in person.

I like Facebook but I maybe go on once a day at the most. Now Racketboy is bad, I come here like 50 times every day. It's my internet cocaine.
Older. Not wiser.
Re: Does social networking irk you?
I hate social networking sites, but my friends basically forced a facebook account on me. In the end I just made a fake one to shut them up. As far as facebook is concerned, my name is Shlomo Goldberstein, rabbi from New York City.
Re: Does social networking irk you?
When I first saw MySpace I thought "Wow, it's Geocities early 90's all over again"
Then Facebook became MySpace 2.0
And now we have Twitter, which gives everyone the ability to randomly toss bits of thought throughout the day and others to comment mindlessly on said random bits of thought.
Social networking seems to be less about networking as it is traditionally thought of and more about "Hey, look at me!"

Re: Does social networking irk you?
I never liked social networking. I had a myspace like so long ago then I deleted it. Never signed up for anything else. They just annoy me. I'd rather be doing something else then looking at 215 photos of people I seriously don't care about.

Wait, you're Rabbi Goldberstein? Then who was that at the Synagogue last Saturday!?! Oi vay!Reverend wrote:I hate social networking sites, but my friends basically forced a facebook account on me.
