Dreamcast and saturn

Post by snickrep »

Recently, I've been in desperate need of some sega love and I'm just not getting it with the xbox 360. In fact, I show no interest in the next-gen consoles (PS3, 360, Wii). The only game that has my attention is NiGHTs: Journey of dreams for the Wii, however I don't own a Wii.

Before a ramble on about this, let me just get to the point. I really miss my sega saturn and my dreamcast. I still have some saturn games/accesories, but no system. I rarely ever play my current line up of consoles/handheld (gamecube, PS2, 360, PSP). I mainly miss Shenmue and NiGHTs. I'm also thinking about selling my gamecube and xbox 360 since I hardly play with those systems. The only games I play on gamecube are sonic games which are the same ones that where on the dreamcast.

Would I be crazy to sell my 360 (just to get rid of the thing!) in favor of a retro reunion? I might get a Wii, but why should I get one for just one game? I feel like there are alot of games I missed out on with the dreamcast....all my friends think im crazy for wanting a dead system and for wanting to sell my 360.

Is this issue really worth debating over??? I might be taking this too seriously, but SEGA just ain't the same anymore. Who knows if NiGHTs: journey of dreams will live up to the original.

My brother bought a 360 with Madden and Gears of WAr. Just 3 weeks ago he said, "Damn, I shouldn't have bought this thing. I should have bought coilovers." He has bought some arcade games and that's pretty much it.

I told him not to sell it since that will be the retro console a few years from now and it will be hacked soon enough so he can play around with lots of cool extras:
Emulators
Media Center
Backups (Read Disclaimer) LOL

But I do think you should get some retro consoles. I just got a N64. Don't get rid of your Gamecube but if you still want to I'll buy it, tell me how much. I wouldn't sell it. But I'll still buy it LOL.

You don't have to sell a 360 to get a Dreamcast. They are dirt cheap.

most of the games I want for dreamcast I can already get for the systems I have now such as:

Shenmue II for xbox

Crazy taxi for PS2,GC, PSP

Sonic Adventure for GC

Grandia II for PS2

Power Stone for PSP

The main reason I want a dreamcast is for the original Shenmue, which I miss dearly. But maybe I should just buy shenmue II for xbox. I owned both shenmue 1 and 2 for the dreamcast back in the day. Also, I still have most of my sega saturn games and accessories, I'm only missing the saturn console and a couple games like NiGHTs and tomb raider. However, I just dug up some fun saturn games such as virtua fighter 2, virtua cop 1 & 2, sonic R, daytona usa, and a couple others. I don't know what ever happened to my dreamcast games (shenmue, shenmue II, sonic adventure 1&2, and crazy taxi).

Right now, I'm trying to debate over saturn and the dreamcast. The only games I owned for dreamcast where the ones I listed above. Also, I'm thinking about selling my xbox 360 because I really don't care much for shooter games such as Gears of war.

Well, Jet Grind Radio alone is worth the price of admission.
You won't get the original anywhere else.
And the sequel is not a proper replacement.

I don't have any next gen consoles at all either because what is masquerading as next gen isn't - it's the same as before but with shiner graphics and poorer framerates.

Recently picked up a Saturn for Nights, never got rid of my DC and my hacked Xbox emulates SNES, MD, Arcade/MAME, CPS andd NeoGeo perfectly for me whilst also being a great Media Center. More than enough stuff to play there...
