I personally feel that Zeta Gundam and 08th MS Team are the two best Gundam shows. I'm not sure how beginner friendly either of them are, though. I know Zeta Gundam makes a lot of references to the original Mobile Suit Gundam, but I think 08th MS Team does a good job of throwing in the necessary backstory (it's a sidestory to Mobile Suit Gundam's conflict).

I'm partial to G Gundam myself, only for its lighthearted refuge in audacity. I tried explaining to my friend that these people had evolved past giant robot wars that decide the fate of their world. He thought that part was good, but when I said that war was replaced by a giant robot tournament, he couldn't stop laughing. I can't help but love it. (Also the Statue of Liberty is a galactic canon)

As far as I know, Blade Runner's replicants are androids just like Terminator with the "skin" on. They look just like humans but are robots. However there is the possibility that the replicants are cyborgs. From just the movie it's not easy to tell.
