So I have a DS lite currently....I want to start getting some more gba games, but is there any advantage to getting the backlit version of the sp to play them over just using the ds lite?
I may pick this up anyways, in hopes to get a DSi someday.

I would say generally no unless you happened to find the GBA SP more comfortable or you wanted to use the GBA link cables with some games. If you have your heart set on playing Crystal Chronicles or Zelda Four Swords with the minimaps, you'll need GBAs.

Re: gba sp backlit question
The GBA SP is smaller then a DS lite, and it can play GB, GBC, and GBA games. Even if now you don't think you would play original Game Boy games that might change if you play a few, as there are tons of great ones.
You might still want to keep your DS lite though, some games use the GBA cart port like Guitar Hero and some DS games can get data from the GBA games, like Pokemon Pearl.
Oh, one more thing, if you buy a SP try to get the model with a headphone jack, that one has a back lit screen instead of a front lit one like the original. The original also requires a special accessory to put headphones in.

Make sure you get the model 101 with the back lit screen. Don't fall victim to buying the cool looking NES retro design it looks great but the screen is not back lit. The non back lit ones really do suck after playing the back lit one.

Or buy both models and swap out the internals so you have an NES SP with the brighter screen.Alpinex2 wrote:Make sure you get the model 101 with the back lit screen.
