1up published a great article on the Dreamcast
http://www.1up.com/do/feature?pager.off ... Id=3175865
it brought up the many good things about the system, and I believe they hit the nail of the head about it's failure.
It was a system made for hardcore gamers. I remember how much I craved a Dreamcast from the very first day it was out, yet I don't remember wanting a ps2 for like 4 years since it came out.
and really all those fucking fanboys, who yell at the wii for killing hardcore gaming, just cause it takes developer attention far from their playstation thingy and from their 360 thingy, where were you when the dreamcast was dieing huh? (personally I didn't have the money for a new console until 2002, when I bought a gamecube. if I had it 2 years ealier it was bound to be used to buy a dreamcast)
where were you hardcore gamers?

I bought an American Dreamcast on launch day and bought many games for it throughout it's life. I was so sad when I heard the news about Sega switching to software only. The Dreamcast was the last console for gamers.

Uh... in 1999 i was probably doing 1 of 3 things, maybe at once, cant remember:ZeroAX wrote:where were you hardcore gamers?
1) wanking (i was 13 at the time, go figure)
2) playing pokemon (what everyone else was into)
3) watching Dragonball Z (hey, it was the turn of the century, people loved DBZ)
In 2001, heres a good hint...
1) wanking (no surprise there)
2) obsessed with Gundam Wing (another awesome thing to come out)
3) thinking of Tenchi Muyo girls (the next best alternative to Gundam Wing, for a 15 year old boy at the time)
I think my PS1 was thrown in there as well...
