Selling gameguides on ebay (no physical copies)

Post by insideinfo »

I came across an ebayer who sells gameguides. Nothing special you might say. Well this seller doesn't sell any physcial objects. If you pay him 1 euro, he'll email (!?) you the gameguide. For example :
Chrono Trigger
I'm assuming it's a pdf with scans from an official guide (he doesn't specify). I've never seen this. I find it dubious but at least he doesn't charge for shipping

Thoughts?

Wow, that's so pointless. And worse of all, someone will buy it.

And unless he has written permission of copyrightholder, or wrote them himself, it is illegal.

This is nothing new.

Yeah. To put it into perspective, this is pretty much the same thing as burning a copy of a game and selling the CDR copy for a buck.

I especially love the "pc versions" of old games. Most likely just a disc with a rom and emulator on it:

It would be good if you contacted the seller and got more info such as how many pages and what format it is in. Looking at the feedback, it looks like he made a bunch of 1EUR sales.

It appears people complained and he had to delete it because I can't find it anymore. @Jrecee. omg I've seen those photoshopped images of "snes games for pc" but I never realised those were probably just roms & emulator on a writable cd. How sad.
