Any Systems You Don't want to collect?

Post by Alpinex2 »

I have just about everything but there are a few I don't have a desire getting into.
3D0 - Just not enough good games or really any worth playing.
Jaguar - To expensive and you rarely see it out in the wild or anything to do with it so you only have ebay as an option.

System I would like to get into is the lynx hand held.

Ummmm... So you don't want to get into the 3DO because you don't think there's anything worth playing on it, but you want a Lynx???

Did I read that correctly?

Only systems I don't really care to collect are things like the CD-i, Game.com, N-Gage, etc. Granted, I wouldn't mind having them, I just don't plan on ever getting them. Only if I found them for dirt cheap at a flea market or something would I pick them up.

3DO and Jaguar I would like. They may not be excellent systems, but they do have a decent amount of games I'd like to get for them. Still, I have more important fish to fry, like a Neo Geo, Sega CD, Neo Geo Pocket Color and Wonderswan Color.

Jaguar CD, from what I have heard they have a high failure rate and are very expensive.

3DO isnt bad if you can get one cheap enough. Games really dont cost too much, and worse case, you can burn them on a cdr and try them before you buy them.
Jaguar on the other hand sucks the big one, however, there is a price where everything is worth giving a chance.
Anyway, I would consider giving 3DO a chance if I was you, but your thoughts a pretty straight on with the Jag

This is slightly related... as much as I think that the DC and XBox are amazing in their homebrew capabilities, they both have controllers that really turn me off.

Ha you are going to make people mad. People are so in love with those controllers. The Xbox controller is okay except for the dpad (talking about the smaller version of course.) I dont really like the DC controller either, but not to the point of not giving the system a chance.

Agreed. By all means, the 3DO is a pretty decent system. Plenty of fun to be had on it. I can think of quite a few worthwhile games on it. The Jaguar, on the other hand... while I don't own on, I can think of very, very few games worth getting that system for. I'd definitely buy one if I see one for cheap (not gonna happen in Japan!).

The Lynx? Good grief. That's like the Jaguar. A few decent titles; strong emphasis on "few".

But I have given the system a chance. Me and my roommate had one when it came out and we played it all the time. I just never loved the controller. And when he moved out, he took it with him, and I moved on to other systems. I figured this comment would upset people, becuz for the most part the majority of Racketboy-ers are DC-obsessives. But I'm just being honest.

It's not making me mad. I don't mind the X-Box controllers, but they definitely aren't my favourite. As for the DC, maybe I'm in the minority... but I'm not partial to those controllers at all. They're okay... but in my opinion, Sega hit their controller pinnacle with the Saturn. In fact, video game controllers in general hit their pinnacle with the Saturn controller (original Japanese model/US model 2).

Heck, I'm not even a huge Dreamcast fan. I like it and agree that it died way too soon, but compared to other systems I just don't find as many games that I want on it. I've got around 20 DC games, around 60 games on the PS2, Saturn, SNES and NES and approaching 40 on the Playstation, TG-16/Turbo-CD and the Genesis/Sega CD. That says something. As a sytem, the Dreamcast is awesome... it just didn't have enough time to get the library of games as other systems had.
