Dreamcast Drifting??

Post by sh0wtime »

hi guys
does anyone know if any of the popular Dreamcast driving games have a drift mode or even let you drift during challenges?

i fancy doing some onscreen drifting but not sure which game would best suit my needs

I can only think of two at the moment will add more later.

Metropolis Street Racer
While this is not a drift game there are some drifting elements you get Kudos point for drifting/sliding round corners.

Tokyo Xtreme Racer/Tokyo Highway Challenge
This is one of my favourite games for drifting it takes a bit of getting used to but it worth it.
I think I only paid £4 for it off Ebay.

The Dreamcast is my favorite console for racing games besides the PS2. Has such variety and the clean visuals make it beautiful to watch. Anyway, as has been said, Metropolis Street Racer is a wonderful game, it's basically Project Gotham 0, made by the same people, feels the same, just different name. Sega Rally 2 is always good. Tokyo Extreme Racer 2 is awesome as well.

I don't think any of the Dreamcast racing titles have a specific "Drift Mode", however drifting is not an uncommon thing to come by at all in Dreamcast racing games. There are tight racers with great drifting if you can manage it such as Metropolis Street Racer (which you should own if you have even a passing interest in racing games on the Dreamcast), or loose, arcade racers with floaty controls which make every turn a drift, like Sega Rally 2. I've never played Tokyo Xtreme Racer 2, but I know that Daytona USA 2001 is stuffed full with drifting turns.

Come to think of it, the Dreamcast is probably my favorite system for racing games ever (not that I'm a huge racing buff, mind you). I just wish, wish, WISH that Sega'd had the time and money to put Daytona USA 2 on the Dreamcast. Gah, the quarters I've lost to that game... rather, the quarters that game has EARNED from me.

Metropolis Street Racer was a bit better but unfortunately my Tokyo Highway Challenge 2 disc wasn't working :(
i'll have to try it in the DC downstairs

might have to get some hard tyres for one of my touring cars too
this is the vid that got me interested
