I recently got an N64 in the mail about a week ago. It appears to be in good condition, came with all the hookups and such. Expansion Pak, Memory Pak, decent controller, all for a very good price of about $30.
About 50% of the time when I put it a game, the screen will fade to green, and stay there whenever I turn it on. Am I not blowing on the cartridges good enough whenever this happens? Is it not angled right? Or is the damn thing starting to break?
N64 fades to green screen...

Clean your cartridges with 70% By Volume Rubbing Alcohol and Q-Tips (Moist not dripping wet!), blowing into them will actually damage the system and games by causing the moisture in your breath to corrode the contacts.
My Consoles:
Genesis - Nomad - SegaCD - GameGear - Sega Saturn - Dreamcast - NES - SNES - N64 - Gamecube - Wii - Playstation - PSone & LCD - PS2 - PS3 - Xbox - 3DS

Thanks. Should I let it dry out?Mod_Man_Extreme wrote:Clean your cartridges with 70% By Volume Rubbing Alcohol and Q-Tips (Moist not dripping wet!), blowing into them will actually damage the system and games by causing the moisture in your breath to corrode the contacts.

I like to let my cartridges sit for a minute or two after I clean them just to be sure but Rubbing Alcohol wil evaporate near instantly after I use it.

Just so you know, this will work with any type of system cartdrige (except NDS ones), not only N64. So if any other systems have this problem, you can use the same solution.Mod_Man_Extreme wrote:Clean your cartridges with 70% By Volume Rubbing Alcohol and Q-Tips (Moist not dripping wet!), blowing into them will actually damage the system and games by causing the moisture in your breath to corrode the contacts.
