Which Classic Sega games need a modern remake/sequel?
Could either be Sega published and/or developed games or games by other companies that were exclusive to a sega system at one point.
I've noticed a few sequels/remakes of sega games being released in recent years. I never played the original but I had a surprising amount of fun with Outrun on ps2. There was also the new Afterburner game on psp which I've never played.
I always thought Vectorman 1 & 2 for the Genesis were pretty solid, run n gun platformers. The skating levels were particularly fun. A sequel would be nice. It had the potential to become a long-term game franchise.
General Chaos was one of the few non-sports 4-player games on the Genesis which I think would benefit from a remake for current gen. I didn't play it a lot but it seemed like a pretty good party game.

I've always wanted to see Rocket Knight Adventures come back.

I'd say Sonic still fits in this category.
But seriously, Streets of Rage.

Agreed. A true HD Remake of the Streets of Rage series would be brilliant.Xonticus wrote:I'd say Sonic still fits in this category.

A sequel on the other hand... I'm not sure I trust Sega with the task.

Shenmue
Give us the second f'n sequel, Sega. We need Shenmue III.
Some new Alex Kidd games would also be sweet, as would an actual Phantasy Star game. Enough of this online bullocks. Also, how about releasing Outrun HD on the PS3 in more than just Europe? Those of us in Japan without 360s would love to play it, as I'm sure those in North America and other regions would as well.

Me too, but RKA isn't a Sega franchise to begin with.Anayo wrote:I've always wanted to see Rocket Knight Adventures come back.

The last decent batch of sequels to old school franchises were released for the Xbox, most of which were probably slated for the Dreamcast. If Nights on the Wii (which is solid but hardly incredible) is anything to come by, Sega's Megadrive/Genesis franchises shouldn't be resurrected (Cameo appearances would be okay though). That being said Sega's All-Star racing game is looking mighty interesting.

Re: Which Classic Sega games need a modern remake/sequel?
I'm actually looking forward to the racing game fr some odd reason. If they fail at this and never bring over Yakuza 4.... Sega would probably officially be dead to me.
They have wronged the original fans of Sega's classic franchises the past 5-7 years by milking their IP and showing us how poorly they can make a game if they never try.
Shenmue 3 is a long lost dream for me. But yes, that would definitely be on my top 3 list of must make, the damned bastards.

Re: Which Classic Sega games need a modern remake/sequel?
I sure wouldn't mind seeing a 2D sequel to Ristar on Wii. Something 2D for sure. I think it would look really good. Though, for that matter, a 2D Sonic would be nice, too.
Re: Which Classic Sega games need a modern remake/sequel?
Most don't need a remake as they are perfectly fine as they are. Some of their Saturn stuff that would have been better had they not been bogged down by some of the Saturn limitations like Burning Rangers could benefit from remakes though.
As for sequels...why not make more NEW games like they always have done? Like Yakuza and Valkyrie Chronicles? Besides that, a sequel/continuation of Sonic 3 & Knuckles in 2D would be nice. Go look footage of the fan game Retro Sonic XG and that's pretty much what it should be like.
I'd also like to see them bring back Space Harrier (or at least finally give us a port of Planet Harriers), Wonder Boy, Dynamite Dux, Ristar and if at all possible Dynamite Headdy with Treasure (Gunstar Heroes got a sequel with Sega so it's not impossible).
