My PSP currently has Custom Firmware 3.90 M33-2. Last I had checked, that was the latest and best CFw for PSP.
That of course has changed - Now there are a few PSP CFw options to go with, stuff like GEN, TDP, etc.
My question is, which CFw should I upgrade to? Functionality that I need is very basic: continuing to play PSP ISOs and I would like to start using PopStation to play PS1 games (which I have never done).
Since this is mainly motivated by my interest playing the newly translated Policenauts, I thought about just installing a PopStation version compatible with my 3.90 M33-2, but then I realized that there have been many CFw updates since 3.90 M33-2 came out. I know that PopStation versions are sometimes specific to the CFw that you're running, and since I know that I will upgrade my CFw eventually, I figure that I should just upgrade my CFw now, before I install PopStation.
So the question is: based on my currently having CFw 3.90 M33-2 and the need to continue to play PSP ISOs and play PS1 games with PopStation, which CFw should I upgrade to?
Thanks!

Re: PSP Custom Firmware advice?
I'd say just upgrade to the latest M33 firmware, it's at least 5.00 M33-6 I think. I'm not sure which was the first version to have built in update, I think it was after 4.00 though. I think you won't even need to use pop station once you upgrade, it's all done behind the scenes as far as I know.

Re: PSP Custom Firmware advice?
Thank you. Upgrading to 5.00 M33-6 was absolutely painless and you're right - it looks like it natively supports PSone eboot files (although some PSone games apparently require the full on PopsLoader program and settings tinkering).
Thanks for your advice! It took me quite a bit of googling, but I finally got the English version of Policenauts up and running.
