Just so you know, the a PAL Megadrive II will output in Black and White regardless of if your TV can handle the NTSC signal, if you don't use RGB cables (Which are rarely used in Aus).

RGB looks like this.

The chances are your Aussie TV doesnt have input for scart (Some do but give it a look). Its a pain in the ass, and the only reason I have not modded my Mega Drive 2.

You can but there not that common down here, finding CRT's in stores is becoming harder and harder, let alone ones that support RGB

There is also a mod you can do, which sounds much more complicated that the initial mod involving changing a crystal, have no idea how to do that mod though. Wish I did. However the RGB cable is a much easier solution (if you have a TV that takes it) but I wouldnt suggest buying a new TV just to play your MDII @ 60HZ.

I was thinking of trying, but not sure if it would work, is making a scart cable for my MDII, then use a converter from scart to component, no idea if it would work, but I will eventually try it out, but not in the near future. But its an idea.
