IMO the main reason for doing this kind of mod is because it's awesome. It's like a MAME arcade cabinet, only more portable. Additionally, if you want to play retro games on TV, this would be far more convenient. No need for blowing cartridges, multiple systems/adapters, save shelf space.
Of course I'm not really a collector like a lot of the people on the board, so other's opinion on that may differ.

i just found my next buy. It's perfect! All those systems and games in one tiny package plus from what i've read, front ends are highly customizable and content heavy. If only there was one for sale on eBay....

Even though it's a top-loader, I wonder if the N64 is big enough to do this. Have one I really don't use anymore.

Yeah it is! I think that's what inspired me to hook up my Cube to my monitor and keep it on my desk.
