Don't know if any of you have seen this before, but I thought it was pretty damn cool. Considering it's over a year old, it could probably be copied with superior computer parts.

Re: Interesting project
I think I saw that before. It's a good project if you think about it, all you need is some sort of port connected to the nes controller ports so you hook them up like a real nes. A nice front end that loads on power and you have a nice nes computer
Thanks everyone...

Though it's not true to the original, I personally would have stuck with my PS2 control adapter. The N64 joysticks have tendencies to break on me.
It would have been awesome if he could have put in a DVD player though.

Ive seen people break the hinge for the cartridge slot and mount a dvd drive there (with the door to the cartridge slot attached to the drive door. it is alot of strain on the motor though.
My next HTPC will be in an old VCR. Just havent found one I like that is ATX/MATX sized.

Yeah I've seen the broken-hinge DVD drive thing too. That's what I figured he was going to do. Would've been nice.
Re: Interesting project
Actually, there is enough space inside an NES that if you could somehow wireup a pico itx board and harddrive inside of the NES without removing the NES functionality yet allowing the controls and video out operate on either. Well that would be an awesome mod. Sure you would have to sacrifice either the RF out or the RCA out for the power, but hmm... Ill have to look at the NES schematics again.

Re: Interesting project
I always thought it would be awesome to do the opposite, install a working NES into the empty space of a computer tower and have the ability to run the NES on Windows desktop. Must be possible.
Re: Interesting project
I never understood the appeal of this kind of mod.

Re: Interesting project
All you would have to do for that is find a suitable clone that will fit and wire up an internal breakout box for your GPU. It would be even better if you could find a good USB adapter and use an internal USB port.
Hatta, the main reasons people mod an NES like this:
1. NES broken beyond repair
2. Reminds them of childhood having the NES under the TV
3. Kitch factor
