Yup, even after I learned of the contrast dial's existence I have this happen to me on a regular basis.

I just watched lukemorse's video on how to fix the gameboy so I was like " oh nice! I can get this thing running." so in the middle of opening it up I check this thread and while the gameboy is still in pieces I play with the contrast knob. Then I sigh and mutter " epic fail..."

You just made my day. Sorry to laugh at your expense, but that was great. Had some nostalgia in it too, because the same has happened to me before.
