My White Whale and PS3

Had to share the story of my white whale and my new PS3.

So we all know that last week was the release of the slim and I've been waiting for both a price drop and BC (well one of of two isn't bad and know I didn't want a new 60gb for twice the price.) So off to my local mom and pop I go. They have always been good on their prices of used games so I had Resistance and Motorstorm on my mind to keep my gaming purchase down.

When I entered the store I saw two other people with PS2's in their hands. Not thinking anything of it I asked the owner for the Slim and both games. As I was handing over my credit card I noticed her, my white whale stacked about 10 high. My Special Edition Halo oXbox. Knowing how much they go for on Ebay I asked how much. He said he was just trying to cut down on his inventory he said name my price. Knowing they go for about $100 used I said $40 and he said sold.

Sh*t! I couldn't walk away at that point so what was I to do. Either I don't get my PS3 or I don't get any games. Because if I spend another $50 my girl is going to kill me. But then I over heard the other two people talking about there PS2 trade in's. And the owner informed me that he is matching the Gamestop trade in for a PS2, memory card, and controller for $90.

Double sh*t I have a phat that I came across for $10 two weeks earlier at a garage sale. Didn't need it but for $10 I could let it go in the trash either. So 50mph in a 30mph zone I drive back home, walk in the house without a word to the wife, and back to the store I go. And again I hand my now old PS2 phat, 3rd party memory card, and 3rd party controller. Then I made the mistake of looking down at their oXbox games and sitting there is my last two games I've been missing from my collection.

Now if only I could get one of those MK2 codes to hold my daughter over till my wife say's I can spend more money. Which won't be for quite a while.

That guy is going to get killed on the trade-in. You can get a brand-new PS2 slim with controller for $90-$99 at most stores. Was he really giving you $90? Wow.

You did get the Halo Xbox for $40 right? It wasn't clear from your posting since you listed the PS3 and some games. If so, what a haul for the day.

Yeah if thats the case I would start buying every PS2 on ebay for $45 and bring them to that store. There is no way gamestop pays that much for a used PS2.
