Games better on Genesis than SNES?
Games better on Genesis than SNES?
The example of Pit Fighter came up on another thread, so now I am wondering:
Generally, when I think about games that show up on both the SNES and the Genesis, either personal experience or personal bias tells me that the SNES version is superior. For example, the SNES version of NBA Jam is generally considered to be superior. I've never played the Genesis version of Mortal Kombat II, but I know that the SNES version sold better.
However, apparently the Genesis version of Pit Fighter is superior to the SNES version.
What other games appear on both systems and has a superior Genesis port? Earthworm Jim?
Note that I am not asking about different games based upon the same license, such as the Jurassic Park games or a comparison of Contra III vs. Contra Hard Corps or Castlevania IV versus Castlevania Blood Lines.

Re: Games better on Genesis than SNES?
I think almost all of EA's games were better on the Genesis - certainly their sports titles were better until maybe very late in the system's life cycle.
Also, didn't the SNES have more edited/censored titles? I thought MK was one of those...

Mortal Kombat 1 had no blood on either systems, but on the Genesis, it had the blood kode. But the graphics and sound were superior on SNES of course. Another notable difference is that some special moves in the SNES version of MK games were actually finishing moves in the Genesis version.
Example:
SNES - Hold Y with Rayden for 3 sec to electrocute someone
Genesis - Hold a button with Rayden for 3 sec to electrocute them as a finishing move.

i've always thought the genesis had brighter colors due to the limited palette. colors on the snes ports always appeared washed out in comparison

I third(?) this. That Aladdin game was amazing, and the fact that you could reflect projectiles with your sword was great. Also, the Genie level.DaGamingMonkey wrote:Sega Alladin > then SNES Alladin

Thanks for the replies so far.
Again, though, I am looking for instances of the same game on both systems. Aladdin on the Genesis is a different game by a different developer than Aladdin on the SNES.

That is what I was about to say. SNES wins GENs loses. I was curious if there are any. I am going through all mine right now and I cant find one that is better on genesis then SNES that isnt a different game. I want to hear specific EA games that are better I have madden 96 and It is a lot better on snes.
Where's my chippy? There's my chippy.
