Original Gameboy Screen

Post by Rebz »

Hey guys I just picked up an original Gameboy but the screen doesn't work. The rest of the system does though so the buttons are responsive and there is sound. When I turn off the Gameboy I see one or two horizontal black lines but they aren't always in the same spot and then they disappear. Is there a way to fix this or is the screen shot?

The horizontal lines are completely normal. As ModMan said, try adjusting the contrast. The original Gameboy has the ability to go from completely "white" screen to completely black screen based on what the contrast is. The Game Gear and Nomad also have a similar range on their controls.

No worries. I remember when I purchased an original Gameboy I had the same problem, but then I remembered the contrast. Once the GBC hit they eliminated it, and I then forgot all about it.

I had this problem with my Game Gear a while back. I even went so far as to take the console apart and clean it. Then, as soon as I was about to post at these forums about it, I saw the contrast wheel.
