I have yet to see a manga, where the woman is more than the damsel in distress. Their humor is basically, them beating up way more powerful guys than them, because they dared hit on them, and if a fight scene comes, they are more wimps than minor characters.

read Dogs, medaka box, kino no tabi, burst angle, and black lagoon. especially the latter. black lagoon focuses on hard core chicks.

I take it you think the only manga out there are Dragonball Z and Ranma 1/2, eh? Maybe if you read more than just shonen and harem manga, you'd see things differently. Go read some Gunsmith Cats, that shit is like candy.

Also, I'm a huge fan of American comics, and I like the way women are presented in them. So what, we can show men as being Herculean mountains of muscle, but we have to present women as being plain Jane librarians?

Screw that. Comic books aren't about realism - they are about fantasy and excess. Comic books without the rippling pecs and generous cleavage would be about as fun as Christian Rock.

Also, serious lulz at Lara Croft not being 'ridiculous'. From her China-Dress to her Wet-suit to her standard "Tight-Tube-Top and Super Short Shorts", Lara Croft has always been about getting men to play with their joysticks after they're done playing with their joysticks.

I'll also throw in a vote for Noir. I know it's technically an anime, but the conventions between the two tend to be the same. You have the female professional assassin who hooks up with the female amnesiac who also turns out to be a gifted assassin, and cue several awesome gun battles with some fantastic music.

I have to admit, im lazy when it comes to manga. Ive had GSC Burst vol 3 for over a year and a half, havent touched it, its still on the shelf. And Vol 4 is supposed to come out sometime.

And dont forget Christian Rock is as generic as anything on the radio. I will have to say the only original christian artist i happen to like is Micheal W Smith. I like his old stuff though. That dude has talent, and would be playing next to God's band in heaven.

Ive only seen the first episode of Noir when Newtype USA did DVD samples. I liked the first episode, but never got past that. I heard Gunslinger Girl is pretty good too, but havent gotten to that yet.

truth is, I've read the mainstream manga, but that is what most people will read, and form an opinion.

Just because there were a about 10 movies (random number) with black leads prior to the 80s, doesn't mean that movie producers weren't racists (in general).

I'm sorry, I just feel that they insult me, when they turn the characters into a sex item. That's why I couldn't stand to read the wow comic. look at the attached image. When I saw that I stopped buying the comic (yeah it's the first issue).
Why is everyone else dressed, and the girl is like that?

It wasn't about whether they have talent. Rock 'N Roll is founded on three things:
1) Drugs.
2) Sex.
3) Slipping messages from the Devil into the lyrics that makes you spill and drink the blood of the innocent.

Taking these out leaves you with... noise. Taking the 'unnecessary' boobs and pecs out of comic books would just leave you with... scribbles.

ZeroAX: Sure, some women can feel empowered by playing as Lara Croft, just as a lot of women feel empowered playing as Cammy White in Street Fighter. Do you honestly think that these characters were designed with a female audience in mind?

Also, as for World of Warcraft - I know a girl that plays that game almost religiously. Her avatar? Skank-tastic. Sometimes, women enjoy playing the sexpot.

You only read the mainstream stuff, and so you form your opinion based solely on that? How do you think the mainstream stuff gets mainstream? Not by showing fully-clothed, modestly-dressed women, I can tell you that.
