SO SO sad guys..... (muramasa demon blade related)

Post by loganm187 »

Like many of you here at racketboy(I hope) I am very excited for Muramasa: the demon blade for the WII. Well, this will make you sick.SICK! I live in a good size town, one big enough to have 2 gamestops and a gamecrazy. I work at the gamecrazy and heard about gamestop getting awesome preorder bonuse wallscrolls for demon blade..grrrrrrr so i go down to gamestop to preorder to get my wallscroll.First thing, no one at the damn store even knows what the hell the game is????!!!!"you want that for 360 the clerk says" what the HELL!? Everyone at my work is interested in the title but, i am the only one to have it pre-ordered.SO then the manager comes out and is holding the wall scroll and says "is this it?" and just gives it to me because they don't have nay preorders and the title is about to come out.AWESOME! I think then realize how shitty that is for vanillaware.Well, out of curiosity and hoping to score another scroll to keep for collecting purposes I head down to the other gamestop. THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED! ZERO PREORDERS! AND OF COURSE THEY JUST GAVE ME THE WALLSCROLL! Now I'm just wondering if other stores are looking this grim for what looks like WII game of the year??? My entire town has one preorder!?!??!?!??!

I never heard any information on it outside of this site. So it doesn't surprise me.

My store also has zero pre-orders.

I don't think this is really a matter of it being on the Wii, although that sure ain't helping it. There's a few other games we have zero pre-orders for as well, like Demon's Souls. We'd have zero pre-orders for Demon's Souls Deluxe if I didn't have money put down on it. Brutal Legend also has a scarce amount of pre-orders.

On the other hand, we've got plenty of pre-orders for Modern Warfare 2, Halo: ODST and Guitar Hero 5. So, I guess everything is as it should be.

There was some marketing, but it was aimed at the core markets who usually ignore Wii either out of ignorance or spite. Too bad because the game will probably be a retail failure and core gamers will have skipped out on a pretty cool title. But at least you still get to play it AND get two wall scrolls for the price of one.

Is Muramasa destined to be a hidden gem? Probably... but it's a pretty niche-looking title anyway, so I'm not sure that would've been so different on any system.

Well, this'll either prompt Vanillaware to release the game on other systems like they've been considering, or it'll prompt them NOT to since it's not making any money anyway. Yup, hardcore games shouldn't be Wii exclusives.

I'd argue that the "hardcore" crowd should just get over the Wii bashing and start paying attention to the release schedule.
