Well I couldn't believe it when I first saw it. A reverse-engineering of one of the best First person shooters on the N64, and a total conversion of it at that. Here is some info on the project.
I'm not too versed in the world of N64 modding. So this was really cool to stumble upon.
Goldfinger 64 is a fan re-imagining of the 1997 Nintendo 64 game Goldeneye 007. The goal of the project is to replace all 20 of the original Goldeneye levels and missions with new ones, based on the 1964 movie Goldfinger.
This reminds me of the remake, I forget the project/team name, but they were trying to remake the game using a different engine... something of the Counter Strike era but I really don't remember much else lol.

this isn't as cool as GE:source. If you are building a new game, why not actually build a new game? why stick this with this 64 style? Seems kinda silly
Yeah, I remember hearing about that Goldeneye PC remake.
We probably won't see this for several years. It looks like they just started and I don't know how they're going to adapt Goldfinger into action levels. Let's run down the movie scenes:
Opening bombing mission + confrontation in hotel room (can split to two levels)
Bond gets Goldfinger to stop cheating (I guess we could put guards or something in the hotel for shits and giggles)
Bond plays golf with Goldfinger (maybe a retaliation by Goldfinger minions after losing?)
Bond follows Goldfinger through Europe to the factory (maybe vehicle level like Streets?)
Bond spies on Goldfinger factory (could probably make two missions out of it)
The laser scene
Bond escapes his cell and hears about Grandslam
Attack Fort Knox
Battle with Oddjob
Battle on plane
So far I'm up to 12.

Probably not. The only N64 flash carts I've seen were just prototypes, and "reproduction" style carts are out of the question since they're apparently impossible to do.

They're not impossible. There just hasn't been a rom awesome enough to warrent someone to figure out how to do it. You better believe if Mother 64 had come out that they'd figure out how to do a repro.

Well from what I read it IS impossible. I was reading through a thread on a forum about some guy's N64 flashcart and he was explaining why reproductions are impossible. Even if ROM size wasn't an issue, the N64 cart doesn't read cartridges the same way any other cartridge based system does. I forget exactly what he explained, but it works more like a CD than a cartridge.
I tried to search for that thread just now but couldn't find it again. I actually found it when trying to find out if N64 repros are possible. I wanted to see if I could make a Mario 64 rumble pak version out of a spare Mario 64 cart, or make a translated Sin and Punishment. The guy seemed pretty knowledgeable about the N64, and is in the process of making a flash cart, so I'm just taking his word for it.
Hmmm... for that to make any sense I'd guess that there is some part of the board that you can't replace that would have something like a TOC that it uses to read the rest of the ROM. In which case it would make sense that you wouldn't be able to make a repro off it, as the TOC wouldn't match the ROM. It can't be something as simple as a checksum, since you can get around those as necessary.
If you ever find that thread post it up, since I'd be really interested to hear what would make you unable to repro a cart.

He said something about the ROM being read in cycles or something like that, and that it has no direct feed with the system's CPU. More like a buffer. I'll have to find that link.
