Sega Dreamcast sold 10 million units only. I doubt today there are that many followers or lovers. I think the followers might be just around 200,000 or so.
I doubt Google will pay attention to that.
Plus its too late already, but possible. Though the Dreamcast is not that big of a cultural icon
How to get Google to honor the Dreamcast?

Maybe not to you, but to me it is.kingmohd84 wrote:Sega Dreamcast sold 10 million units only. I doubt today there are that many followers or lovers. I think the followers might be just around 200,000 or so.

The Dreamcast was IT, the very definition of a cool, clean and stylized icon for the hardcore gaming masses. For that one shining moment however brief the underdog was back on top, now doesn't that deserve some recognition? I mean they make movies about this kind of stuff! I've never played anything else like it and I doubt I ever will, every game oozed class and charm with memorable gameplay and atmosphere.
In the end though it was the right thing at the wrong time, but regardless of what anyone thinks I won't let it fade away and become some miserable failure in the history books! That machine from the very first time I saw it captivated and inspired me and even after all this time has passed it's still at the forefront of my mind when I define REAL GAMING: INNOVATION, CLASS, COOLNESS, STYLE and most importantly it was JUST FUN!
That's why I'll strive to see it recognized as an icon that inspired gamers, developers, companies and people to just dream up their ideas and let them fly in that freeform moment on a shiny plastic disc, a silicon cartridge or just bits of random data as free from budgets fads and mass appeal.
That's why I won't let it just die and fade away!

Calm down, man. We're just trying to say be realistic. It's unfortunate, but 9-9-09 will probably be remembered for other things (like Tim Burton's 9) instead of the Dreamcast.Mod_Man_Extreme wrote: ...

I know it will, but I can at least try can't I? The DC means a lot to me and I'd just like to see it get some respect, you know?GSZX1337 wrote:Calm down, man. We're just trying to say be realistic. Re: How to get Google to honor the Dreamcast?
My wife is a very early employee of Google, so she has the means of throwing the idea out there to someone who would consider it, but I still wouldn't count on much. As far as I know they haven't honored any console with a logo, so assuming they'd devote a logo to a low selling system (as far as the big guns are concerned, that is) is unlikely. If it's a possibility at all then it would have to be something they are already considering.
And yes, as much as I adore my Dreamcast, The Beatles finally getting around to remastering their catalog is a much bigger deal.

Well like I've been trying to say, getting there is half the fun regardless of the outcome we'll at least know we tried.
If your wife could possibly spread the word at work that would be awesome!

Here's the competition according to Wikipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/September_9
I see they missed something important in their list!

It's also worth mentioning that 9/9/99 is only the US release date. Logos are regional, presumably, but the date doesn't even truly signify the age of the Dreamcast. Dreamcast is over a decade old already.

They actually missed a lot. I was searching the web and I found A lot more important events on 9/9Anapan wrote:Here's the competition according to Wikipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/September_9

Re: How to get Google to honor the Dreamcast?
I just owned a Dreamcast, so I never really "lived the moment"
I really like it and think the support and game library is amazing for a 1.5-2 year old system(compare to Wii's please) , but just saying in the eyes of Google it doesn't matter.
You might want to ask IGN or another videogame game website and they might consider it.
A lot of people are dedicated to Sega, but what saddens me is that Sega quit on its console
much faster than the fans.
