right, right. You get it. As long as you hear a little click when you push down, yr golden.

You don't want to blow on the carts. The reason that worked is you'd end up spitting in it and then the saliva and condensation helps make contact. But it also makes it corrode worse. I read that the NES game genie makes it worse too as the PCB edge is a bit thicker than the connector on carts, so bends the pins a little worse. I don't have one myself, so I don't know how valid that is.

Just get a new 72 pin, it will save more headaches later as long as you get the carts clean so you don't introduce more dirt and corrosion.

I've always fixed my NES by taking it apart and then using a flathead screwdriver, bend each individual pin towards the centre of the connector on both sides (not too much, couple of millimetres maximum). This helps make better contact. The first few times you insert a game it will feel stiff but the pins will loosen. It's the fact that the pins loosen after inserting and removing a game that causes the problem. After you take a game out, if you don't remove it perfectly straight you will bend the pins a little bit. It's this that causes the cartridge read errors. Well, that and corrosion.

If you open up your NES and find that there's no corrosion on the pins, don't buy a new connector, that's a waste of money, just bend the pins upwards and I promise you it will work. (If there's nothing else wrong with the system that is)

Clean your games so you don't introduce any crud on them onto the nice new 72 pin connector and end up right where you started.

I only have one game...I took the cart apart and cleaned it with steel wool, alcohol, and compressed air. None worked. The pic I previously posted is the same result.
So I dont think ONE game can contaminate my connector after I had cleaned it numerous times with different things. Unless my Nes is completely fucked in some way I have to assume its the game, unless anyone else has a better suggestion?

Well, scrambled screens are usually because of connection issues, but it could be a messed up system or game. I have a Kickle Cubicle game that was used as a chew toy by a dog. It has scrambled graphics too even though its just the shell that's messed up and the PCB inside looks fine.

Next step is to try the game in someone else's NES, or see what a different game does in your system. Sucks the new 72 pin didn't help since that's what the problem is almost all the time.

Make sure you connected your 72 pin connector correctly when you replaced it.

Also check for any bulging, leaking or damaged capacitors.

Another thing is to try using all official parts AC Adapter, controllers, RF etc... and see if that helps.

Finally try hooking it up via a different video port, if you're using the RF switch try AV cables and vice versa to see if that helps.
