Help me out here, Batman Vengeance is awful right?

On the PS2/GC. I actually like the GBA game.

A friend of mine and I are almost getting into an argument over this. I think the game flat out stinks. Not the worst Batman title, but no where near the top 5 of good Batman games.
The controls are not responsive, the camera is a complete mess, the fighting is just repeatedly pressing one button, and the graphics and sound are subpar.

His stance: "The game is so fun. The story, the voice acting, the action are all great. You get to drive the Batmobile, fly the Batplane, duke it out with some the the greatest villains".

My stance: "Game isn't fun. Story sucks, and it takes too long to load the awful cut scenes. Flying the batplane is pretty fun, but driving the batmobile sucks. You barely drive it, it's more of a prompt command level."

When it comes to medium quality games, which if I remember right, this game is one of them, there's really no point in arguing.

Both of you are right. You see the parts you don't like, he just sees the parts he likes.

Vengeance doesn't reach Superman for the N64 levels of awfulness, but it's not worth wasting your time on it when there are better and similar games on the GC, like Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness.

That one had Eevee right from the start.

I like the batplane, and keeping the voice cast of the cartoon is nice, but that probably makes up 3% of the game.

It's no Dark Tomorrow, dear God, I've regurgitated things I'd rather play with. But I'd say it's a 4, maybe a 4.5 out of 10. He's giving it a solid 9.

He also knocked me for liking Batman on the NES saying it was "downright terrible". That's when things started to get heated. Saying batman on the NES is terrible and that vengeance is awesome just doesn't make sense to me.

I completely believe in diff'rent strokes and all, but this just ghasts my flabber.

I'm still waiting on an open world batman game where you really get to experience roaming gotham with batman's gadgets and vehicles. If there were every a game where you needed to be able to explore a city fully its Batman and his Gotham city.

Are there any vehicular parts in arkham asylum? I'm guessing no.

none so far. I'm like.. 70% through. I don't see it happening. The levels are too small to go taring around in a vehicle. Some of his transportation does make cameos though.

By the way- the game is fucking awesome. I'm not going to spoil any of it for you, but if you have any love for batman, pick it up. It doesn't do anything new gameplay wise, but dear god they nailed the franchise.

seeing how much they screwed that concept with the spiderman games (yeah even the "good" one, spiderman 2, gets really boring after 2-3 hours of gameplay), I wouldn't go wishing about it.

to make gotham city feel real, would cost as much as making an mmo imo.
and our best bet right now, is DC universe online. If they take care in recreating gotham, like blizzard does with Azeroth, we might be in for a treat
