The Quiet Earth (1985). Think of it as 28 Days Later without the zombies and big budget effects. This is one brilliant production from the rather obscure NZ movie industry. Thought-provoking and aptly suspenseful.

A Tale of Two Sisters. Good.

Also got Versus and Ichi the Killer from Netflix. But... Ichi the Killer was damaged by the post office.

Yeah I hadn't seen it in some time yet it still hasn't lost that good balance, plus it had Dennis Leary in it.

Ah man, Demolition Man. That's an absolute classic of the 80s/90s action genre. Easily one of Rob Schneider's best films too.

Hey REPO, which version of Ichi was it? There's the edited and the blood bag version.

I just watched Deep Impact, one of the slew of asteroid movies from the late 90s. I absolutely hated it. It just felt so contrived, I could see everything coming. Hell, half way through I already knew exactly how the film would end. Most of the actors and actresses came off as absolutely abysmal. And Morgan Freeman just came off so stiff, like he didn't really care. I suppose he didn't have much to work with from the script, but it felt like he was phoning it in.

I don't know. Netflix didn't say. But it's possibly the edited version, cuz Netflix sometimes has outmoded DVDs (like the original Anchor Bay version of some Argento films, in lieu of the much superior Blue Underground DVD rereleases)
