Quick Question

Post by Omerta »

Maybe I didn't read the guides closely or didn't scour the forums enough, but I got a quick question.

Will a Gameshark/GS Lite make a US Dreamcast region-free like a boot disk?

I picked up some Japanese and PAL games for dirt cheap and would rather not mess with the insides of any of my Dreamcasts. I was just wondering so I don't have to deal with some crappy downloaded boot disk that may not play everything. I need to know if it's worth digging through a bunch of storage 20 miles away to find my old Gameshark.

I remember using a Gameshark to play import games for my N64 (since that allowed them to physically connect to the machine). And if I remember correctly, the Dreamcast boots up to a completely different screen with the Gameshark and you can make some sort of a selection to play the game without codes if you wanted to, then you swap the disk and play on. Would this work?

Thanks guys and sorry if this has been discussed already.

I downloaded and burned a GameShark Lite disc and I use it to play my Headhunter and Shenmue 2 PAL imports on my USA machine.
