Sega CD Model 2 grounding plate on a Model 1?

Post by Mod_Man_Extreme »

Does a Sega CD model 2 grounding plate work with a Sega CD Model 1 system?

I'll be getting a system an a few days that only comes with the AC, but have a spare plate lying around that I'd like to use to lock both my Model 1 systems together. I already know that the Model 2 plate works with the Model 1 Genesis when it's on a Model 2 system, so all I really need to know is if Model 2 plate works with the Model 1 Sega CD as well.
My Consoles:
Genesis - Nomad - SegaCD - GameGear - Sega Saturn - Dreamcast - NES - SNES - N64 - Gamecube - Wii - Playstation - PSone & LCD - PS2 - PS3 - Xbox - 3DS

Are there different plates?

I have a SCD model 2 that I got with a Gen model 1 that was complete with the plate and the extender. I checked and the plate fit on a Gen model 2 just fine.

What I need to know is if the Model 2 connector plate would work on a Model 1 Sega CD system, not a Model 1 Genesis. I currently have my Model 1 Genesis and Model 2 Sega CD hooked up together so I know that the Model 1 Genesis is forwards compatible.

The Model 1 Sega CD came with a plate that was rectangularly shaped and didn't feature the two prongs under the Genesis' expansion port connector like the Sega CD Model 2's connector plate did.

What I need to know is if my spare Model 2 Sega CD connector plate will work with my Model 1 Sega CD as the one I have coming in the mail doesn't have one included and I have a spare Model 2 plate in my closet.

Ah ok, misread. I don't have a CD model 1 to test.
