I wouldn't know exactly where on the board it would be, but look around for what seems to be a resistor but is labeled as 'F-something' or has a completely different color and is located on or near the internal AC Adaptor.Betamax001 wrote:Where is that? Ok i officially no longer care about getting this POS to work. I thought maybe it was the LCD display was broken and it really worked but it looked like it wasnt powered on. So i plugged everything in and put in a tape. To be blunt I have a copy of Batman Forever stuck in this now. The lid and front cover is off. How to get the tape out?

Re: Who can fix a VCR? Or at least diagnois a problem.
There should be gears and such up the sides of the tape cage. Maybe you can manually turn the right one to have it go through the motions of spitting out the tape. Try hitting up google, since most VCRs are almost all the same, I'm sure there's gotta be a general repair site somewhere with help on getting a stuck tape out. Short of that, start dismantling the cage around the tape. If you get it free, hold the door open and you can wind the tape up on the spindles. They have a locking mechanism that will keep the tape from coming out. If you accidentally let the flap shut, there's a button on the right side of the tape you can push to let the flap back open. If you accidentally wind the tape funny, there's a round hole on the bottom in the middle away from the flap side about the size of a pencil. Push that button in and it will release the anti-backlash on the reels.
Oh, and clean your hands really well before touching the tape or you'll get a fingerprint which will make a mess.

So far nothing on Google helped. I took the top and front off the VCR and it seems the rest of the cage's screws are under where the tape is.
