Are brick and mortar retro game stores endangered?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

There's one in the Volo Auto Musueum that is pretty expensive but I got a Virtua Stick for 20 bucks which isnt terrible becuase with shipping it would be the same price more or less. There's one somewhere around Wrigleyville, but I've never been there because its around Wrigleyville. There's one in Norridge thats pretty decent. Some things are kinda expensive but its not too bad. They have the original PlayStations for 20 bucks which is a pretty good price I think. But since the place is in Chicago the tax always jacks it back up : /
Bob (The owner at Volo) can be talked down on his prices it least because he's a Mom and Pop shop. Uneducated people who don't know any better go in and buy stuff on a pretty regular basis from him and its crazy. The prices work for him at his store, but online? He hasn't sold a thing because the competition blows him away.

I have to check out that store in Norridge though.

Ditto, found that out about my local Play N' Trade ... everything I mentioned was dropped for the price I see online.

I cant really say any bashing to PnT, since ive gotten some sweet stuff from them.

Last year, i got Snatcher for 6 bucks, complete, same with Lunar for the SCD out in Garner NC. This past christmas, i found 2 copies of Persona 1 (one complete and one disk only) each 30 bucks, i sold the complete copy for 85 on ebay and i kept the disk only for myself out in Aiken SC.

But some stores seem to charge ebay prices, because they know games. I got Panzer Dragoon Saga complete mint and everything for 145 at the Colombia SC store. I couldnt pass that up because i wanted that game, and if i were to get it online, i would be paying a tad less than what is offered on ebay.

If you wanna see bad pricing, go to the Raleigh Flea Market to this guy named Victor who runs a store that literally OVER PRICES on games. Ive only bought 2 things from him in the past, a Sega CD for 20 bucks and Sol Feace for SCD. Hes got really good stuff, but its at ebay prices/ if not over. He might as well shut his store down and sell stuff on ebay, but he has some market because people keep buying from him, which i find funny. Of course, the Raleigh Flea Market has some good deals, i found TMNT: Turtles in Time and Lunar for PSX with 2 disk and case from this guy selling games out the back of his car for 15 bucks total, couldnt beat that...

My in-laws live in Raleigh, which is just a 90 minute drive from my place. There's a great used book store that sells retro games at reasonable prices. NES games from $2 a pop.

Know of any other retro stores in Raleigh?

That would be Edward McKay on Capital Blvd. I was in raleigh back in may for Animazement, and i happend to find a import gundam game for PSP, Gundam Battle Tactics. If i happen to go there, i usually check out the manga/anime section as well, they get some good stuff from time to time.

Also on that part of Raleigh theres a PnT that opened when i moved, they sell some good NES games at decent prices. I found a complete copy of Dragon Warrior from them for 5 bucks. But check the playntrade website for stores in that area. Oh yea, stay away from Watson Flea Market, its the most ghetto place you will ever go to, and this guy who sells games there, my god, those prices literally came from his butt. He over priced the Fatal Fury collections for an extra 20 bucks more than what you can get at gamestop, now thats bad...
