Oh, that's right. That's why I hate the sun.

heheh I love the sun if I am in a place where sweating doesn't matter - for example, I love the sun and the heat it gives off while at the beach, but I hate the sun that shines through my university window and makes me sweaty in the middle of the class. I don't mess around though because I am Irish so I slather on as much sun tan lotion as I can with the highest spf. I don't tan, I just turn this weird reddish brown like melted Neapolitan ice cream so using anything lower is not worth it.

What's this sun thing? Where I live it's overcast 200+ days a year, so combine that with my own personal avoidance of the sun and I haven't had a sunburn in years.

Managed to get second degree burns on my face while spending a day at the beach once. My brother managed to do it too. We spent the next week sitting inside, watching tv, chugging water like there was no tomorrow.

Get a sunburn cream that's got lidocaine in it, and keep it in your fridge or even your freezer if its water content isn't too high.
Also, use the strongest sunblock you can manage, even if you're trying to tan.

Solarcain gel makes it all better. For about 30 minutes at least....

As a Florida resident for ten years who's about 40% Irish and 40% German, I have experienced plenty of sunburns in my life. It doesn't help that I have a nasty reaction to most sun-screens. (I don't break out, instead I stop sweating and overheat.)
In my experience, I would HIGHLY RECCOMEND investing in a bottle of "green ice," this gelatinous stuff they put in a bottle. The active ingredient as aloe, so it's medicinal to a point, but they put something else in there that stops the pain right up. It feels like the sensation of stepping into a building with air conditioning after an hour in 90 degree weather- only directly where the burn is.
I can also say lidocaine is good stuff, but I've never used it for sunburns, only to numb an area before putting in the infusion set for my insulin pump.
