Master System Problems

Post by lisalover1 »

This is a continuation of my question in this thread: http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... =2&t=15218

Anyway, I am having trouble with my NTSC-U Master System. I am using the official Sega 12v power adapter, and the RF adapter is also official. Whenever I turn on the system with a cart inside, it gives me a "Software Error" error message. Card-based games, however, work fine. I have cleaned out the cartridge slot with evey cleaning substance known to man [and some known only to Chuck Norris], but I still can't get it to work. I have obviously cleaned the carts as well. What should I do?

Hold on 12v?

The Sega Master System is a 10vAC exactly like the Genesis Model 1 and both models of the Sega CD.

If you have either a Genesis Model 1 or a Sega CD try it's AC Adaptor and see if that fixes the problem.

I tried my Sega CD adapter, but it was only 9v. I tried it anyway, and it still didn't work.

I found a temporary solution: I have to take off the cover of the MS to get this to work. When putting in the cartridge, I push it forward in the slot, and leave it like that until the game loads. Then, most of the time, it will load, and I can stop holding the cartridge. Sometimes, the game will crash a few minutes in, but it's better than nothing.

Sounds like the pins are bent out of where they should be. If you have the tools, try bending the pins in the cart slot back towards center ever so slightly.
