[PS2] Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex

Post by wip3outguy7 »

This game was horribly underrated and kind of stomped on by most main stream publications.

The multiplayer (when all of the secrets are unlocked) is phenomenal. Easily some of the best 3rd person deathmatching on the PS2. My nephew and I get together every few weeks and have grudge matches for hours.

It's a shame the game sold so poorly. A PS3/360 version with updated gameplay and full online support would be amazing.

Anyone else a fan of the game?

Agreed. I love this game. The game doesn't get near the amount of recognition it deserves. Once you get used the the controls, the game is a fantastic third person shooter. Also, it looks and sounds amazing.

damn, this game has a very low rating for PS3 compatibility :(

Glitch causes first gate to stay closed, so you can't get any further... Otherwise, everything else is working.
Firmware/region:
1.82/European
Razel:
Unable to get past first gate in the first section of mission 1 as the game will not progress past this point. Hoping for a fix soon as this is a game of a cult show.
Firmware/region:
2.20/European

I have the first PS1 game...how does this one stack up ?...I'm going to search for reviews now. I wonder how it works on current US firmware...there is a PS2 file for game compatibility on PSN which I did get but I don't see any difference in my 80gig soft BC PS3

maybe I should buy a hardware compatible PS3 and upgrade the HDD.
Ocelot, did it again...sorry Boss !

My friend came over the other night and we played this for almost 4 hours. We picked up a component cable early in the night so we could game on the HD TV in the living room. Wow, this game looks really good in progressive scan! Runs smoother, too. Aiming isn't as jumpy or jarring and machine gun kills were much easier. Too bad we didn't have a 3rd or 4th person to play.

I believe so. Its been a while (years) since I played it but I think I remember being disappointed that it didnt seem to have much to do with the series and movie

I bought this recently for my PS3 60Gb with hardware backwards compatibility. Couldn't (and still can't - just checked again...) get through the tutorial as it would glitch at the beginning of the melee combat stage such that there would be no floor, and I would fall and die. every time.

I notice that the multiplayer gets mentioned a lot, but how's the single player?
