Re: Where can I manfacture plastic gears?
'Broken' Model 1 units can usually be had for $10-$15 on eBay whenever they show up and usually only have the drive gear issue or an easily replaceable dead fuse.
Anyhow I'm going to try to get in touch with Super Fighter Team (Beggar Prince, Legend Of Wukong), Water Melon (Pier Solar) and Good Deal Games (A company that reprints older existing titles and also codes whole new games for classic systems.) to see what info on a possible manufacturer they might have.

You could try here.
http://www.alibaba.com/
It's like Amazon for sweatshop workers. It puts you in contact with manufacturers for mass producing items.

even if you get a 3d printer, you need exact cad design or something like that, a 3d model. Who is going to do that?
Re: Where can I manfacture plastic gears?
It's just a gear, man. It's not like it's terribly difficult, even for a beginner, to model a sprocket in a CAD program.

I don't want to drop all my money and never see any return on it.

IMHO, I think you'd be better off to try and find a local plastics manufacturer (unless someone does indeed already make replacements) and ask them if they will produce to your specifications, and I am guessing that they will do so. It may be a significant amount of money for them to make the mold, so the final cost would be higher.

Well I was expecting to drop at least $100-$200 or so on the initial molding and batch, so the costs are expected, but where would I find a local manufacturer?PharmaceuticalCowboy wrote:IMHO, I think you'd be better off to try and find a local plastics manufacturer (unless someone does indeed already make replacements) and ask them if they will produce to your specifications, and I am guessing that they will do so. Yellow pages? I know that I've got a local plastics manufacturing group near where I live, and I live in the middle of Vermont, so they can't be THAT hard to find.

I actually just checked my local YellowPages, but the one plastics company in my area does not make custom parts.Funk, E wrote:Yellow pages? I know that I've got a local plastics manufacturing group near where I live, and I live in the middle of Vermont, so they can't be THAT hard to find.
I did find this place on google and it looks promising (Their customer representative was out to lunch though so I'll have to call back later to see if I can work something out):

Re: Where can I manfacture plastic gears?
I hope you find some way to make this happen! Model One's are awesome and it's a shame something so little stops them from working
