got comcast myself (use to be adelphia till shit hit the fan for them) im pretty all around pleased

i get about 20mb down and 5 up....get cable for 10 bucks more a month and i didn't pay an installation fee(had the internet first then upgraded recently)

i hated adelphia was paying the same price(for the faster service) and getting less than 1.5 mb and had to go through a ton of shit but i ended up getting about 2 months free

Yeah that's the website I've tested my connection a lot with. Seems I squeek by another 2-3 megabit/second at night - which isn't surprising. The weird thing is, living in the SF Bay area, I get a faster connection to LA rather then to a server directly in SF.

I cheated though, I'm actually at work. I love how that phenomenal speed isn't even close the ISP average. Where the hell do they get their data from? Or are we just so far behind countries like Japan/Sweden.

I'm gonna be sans-internet for several weeks while we get hooked up with cable. We've just moved into our new house and it's never been fitted for cable. It's the only house on the street without it :(.

Is the monthly limit on upload/download amounts pretty much a non-US thing? I've had 4 different ISPs in 3 different states and have never even heard of a company imposing any kind of restrictions on traffic.

Yeah, not many non-Satellite ISPs in the US impost bandwidth caps like that. Comcast was thinking of doing it--I'm not sure that it ever really happened.

Meh, I pay for Road Runner TurboBoost. RR is the only decent speed you can get in Kansas City. If you live in the suburbs, you can still get a quality service like SureWest, but here, RR has a fucking monopoly going on. You got no choice.

$45/mo with anywhere from 3-10mbps down, and 0.9mbps up. I live.
