DLDI patch problems. R4

Post by nickfil »

Flash card error Please apply the correct DLDI patch…

thats the error i get whenever i try to run any homebrew or emulation on my r4. I started to look into patches, but i couldn't get anythng to work. I downloaded a couple tools for patching, but couldn't get them running on windows xp. I think that my os is too old or something.

thing is- i have an m3 that doesn't need any of this stuff. It auto-patches i guess? Whenever i run something it will tell me "DLDI COMPATIBLE."

Is there some way to get my R4 to autopatch? Any good tutorials for patching emulation software out there?

any help is appreciated.

Is yours an official R4. One of my knock off R4's has trouble playing anything but uhm "backups"

I use the DOS dldi patcher for the other one and it works fine.

Alot are fake as the actual company stopped manufacturing them years ago. It's obsolete now, and the problems will increase as the homebrew grows, sell it off and get an AceKard 2 even if it's fake or not

If you bought it recently it's fake for sure...

If it's SDHC capable or Real Time save it's fake.

The fakes work okay but just some struggle with homebrew. I have a R4 SDHC with Real Time Save. I use a 16 gig card with it and it works great with homebrew and "backups".

If you have an official R4 then put YSMenu on it by following this guide:

This should fix the issues with homebrew.

If you want to do it the old fashioned way you should get the DLDI patcher from this website and patch the homebrew before putting it on your memory card.

ah. it is too late. My roommate left with the card and i was setting it up for her. She wanted to play her favorite atari 2600 games on it. But thanks for the info, hopefully it'll help someone else.
