so our recent thread Name 3 Games You Most Want To See Re-Released got me thinking microsoft's xbl and nintendo's vc are a great distribution outlet for translations of japanese or other language games.
I personally have always wanted to play Policenauts in english.
walrus12 listed Shining Force III, Shining Force III Scenario 2 and Shining Force III Scenario 3
while the first scenario of Shining Force III was available in english, as you can see its now a rather high priced and rare item for the english version.
I would add the Shining Force III Premium Disc to that list.
Also Sin and Punishment on the N64 comes to mind.
I don't know a ton about japanese games, what game do you feel need to be translated?

Samurai Shodown RPG for Saturn/Playstation/Neo-Geo CD. I recently picked this up off e-bay for the Saturn, been meaning to give it a try soon. Lots of kanji, so it is rather difficult for non-Japanese speakers.

I can't think of many titles that i'd like to see translated. However i've recently been getting interested in "visual novels" (also known as adventure games and dating sims) which is a genre of games that you almost never see on consoles in the US. Another problem is that people in the US aren't as interested in these types of games and if they were translated, the games probably wouldn't sell too well.

Probably wouldn't sell to well in the mainstream...but I wonder if they would make a profit regardless? If you just use subtitles then all you need is probably a translator or two and a couple programmers.
Might be not be interested in the US...mabey Europe? Who knows until they try.

Yeah, they have a better chance in Europe than in the US. And, I agree they wouldn't be hard to port at all. The majority of the game is just text, so the hardest part would be the translation. Oh well, maybe I should just start learning some Japanese and import them

the SFIII premium disc has been translated, i believe.

Princess Crown is the only main one. I mean I beat it in Japanese, but my Japanese is rusty as all get out. Other than that most games I want are translated, legit or fan, or easy enough to roll through with a basic knowledge of the language, ie shumps. Granted I wouldnt mind some French Asterix games translated into English.
