I would run 6 Chanseys against the 6 Alakazams!

Break my special defense, I dare you! (Was there even sp def in Generation I? I have no idea.)

Gen 1 had Attack, Defense, Speed, and Special. So running something like Eggsecutor was a pretty good counter to Alakazam.

End of the day team update.

Beat the elite 4 for the first time, then beat them 3 more times. Spent a good amount of the day leveling.

Team

Gengar 50
Zapdos 55
Venusaur 50
Golem 50
Alakazam 50
Gyrados (aka Mr. Splash) 50

Hours spent 28

I've been hearing that the other competitors are starting to drain themselves. They went balls to the walls early on and are starting to get tired of playing. Plenty of them are over the 30 hour mark if not 40.

Not that I want to be in this tourny, or even think it's possible for me to be in it, but you say no Mew, how come? What if you have a legit Mew (like me?).

Well, since everyone is playing on the games he passed out, I'd suspect that none of them have a legit Mew.

We all restarted the games. I doubt any of the original save files had a legit mew.

If there was a case that some how we could get mews he'd most likely be banned as well since he's up there with mewtwo in the highest tier.

I am jealous that you got one legit. I remember reading about the contest nintendo power was having back in the day.

I got mine from a Nintendo TCG tournament. I didn't play in the TCG or even collected the cards since I was a massive MTG fan at the time and Pokemon cards were just crap in comparison to MTG. There was the boot where you could connect your gameboy and it would just transfer it across. The battery is still good on my Pokemon red. Played it recently on my GBC.

My team is all hard trained level 100's (this was around 1998 when it was really popular) I was unstoppable. Charizard, Raichu, Dragonite, Venasaur, Alakazam, Blastoise.

I didn't own Blue, I only had Red and me and my best friend spent hours and hours so we could get 1 each of every starting pokemon.

I tried to take a pic of my mew but my iphone camera sucks ass and it was just too blurry to make out.

Team advice
Playing with my team I really love Ice beam, or any ice move. Freezing an opponent is so satisfying. That being said... I'm tempted to add articuno to the team, but at the cost of who?
Gengar hasn't been too helpful to me yet.

I now lapras is a good choice but Articuno is already at 50 and around the same lvl as my guys.

Update on my team

39 hours in

Zapdos 66
Venusaur 67
Gyrados 66
Golem 65
Alakazam 66
Gengar 66

Lots and lots of elite 4 runs

Mads has a few @ 50

I heard from Chris and his highest is only @ 40

The rest I've heard no levels just "they're burnt out"
No one has hit 99 with their guys just yet

Final update before the matches

Strife

As of last night his highest was a 67, he also has a staple character in Golem. Jolteon is his electric. He was also saying he may only run 5 guys.... not sure what the benefit of that is.

Slinky
Word is he is only going to run 4 guys for some odd reason, if that's all the case they better be 100

Mads
She's putting in some final hours to get her dragonite wrap build set up.

Chris
Last time I checked his higest was 40, that was yesterday

DGM
My guys are all running around 70 and have all the moves they need to have.

Oreo
Havn't heard anything about his team only that it kind of "blows" according to strife

Swag/Brandon

It was going to happen. People were not going to be able to attend or not play their game.
Swag spent his week playing FIRE red hoping he could trade his guys over to first gen red. That's not going to work so he's screwed with no hours put into his orignal game.

Brandon actually put time into the game, he forgot about a meet he has today so he's missing out on the game.

So 6 competitors.
Rules will be 2 pools of 3
play each trainer in your group
worst records each group is out
other 4 go to playoff bracket
2 worst play each other for 5th and 6th

Monday will be my first update with all the teams and stats. Wish me luck!
