agree with most people on this thread. I wanted a hard copy of every Sonic game for the mega drive cause I love it. But I wanted the games for me, to play them.
This isn't the freaking stock market, where you buy something for cheap and sell it for a profit. Really a game being rare, doesn't make me any happier about owning it. A game being excellent makes me happier about owning it.
also rare games, are usually rare for a reason (aka bad. just look at some of the most rare games the avgn has. it's the crappy ones)

Well, if a game is bad then chances are it won't sell as many copies, therefore it will be more rare down the line. However, when a game is rare and also expensive, it seems to be mostly good games from my experience on Ebay. For example, Zenki on the PC-FX is rare, expensive and a good game.ZeroAX wrote: also rare games, are usually rare for a reason (aka bad. just look at some of the most rare games the avgn has. it's the crappy ones)

ff7 was overpriced to begin with. how many million copies did it sell?
even still, a patient owner will still make money on it, assuming their copy is in mint condition. the problem has been, that before digital downloads, everyone charged $50+ for any condition. now you will see separation based on quality.
a collectible copy will be worth more than $50 later, and gamer-condition will stay cheap, as they should. its no different than cars, on anything else "collectible". i can buy a crappy '69 camaro for $500 or a mint-restored '69 Camaro SS for $100k.
