I have one, for like 10 years of playing burned and original game. No trouble at all.
Worst: PSone
It does play game anymore... but it play music cd.... wtf.
which console is the most reliable... which is the worst.
Re: which console is the most reliable... which is the worst.
Never had any Nintendo or Sega hardware fail on me in any way. Had tons of problems with all the PS1s and PS2s I've ever owned, and I've avoided MS hardware based solely on common sense.
Re: which console is the most reliable... which is the worst.
The SNES and Genesis are probably at the peak of reliability, as they don't have the moving parts of disk-based systems. The toaster NES has the problem with its connector and the NES2 needs modding to not have awful video out.

Every Sony piece of hardware I've ever owned has crapped out on me well before it should have done.

PS2-DREs had to soft mod it just to keep playing games on it. Minidisc player, buttons stopped working on it after just a year. Sony Trinitron tube bust after just 2 years. Sony walkman - disk read errors after just a year. VCR - seek errors(aka it chews tapes up if you try to rewind them) after 1 year. Sony Hi-Fi CD player - refused to read any CDs - got laser adjusted by professional - lasted another year before the drive mechanism gave up the ghost. You get the picture. Everything I've ever had that was Sony has lasted for the warrenty period then died. The only things that have lasted longer have been the consoles, but with them it's just a matter of time anyway. Maybe i'm just really unlucky but it's enough to put me off the brand for life.

The Megadrive 2 gets my vote, and for worst is stuff from Sony, my original PS2 banked out just after a year (and its warranty) bought it on launch date.

I've gotten many broken Genesis 2's. I'm gonna say SNES.emwearz wrote:The Megadrive 2 gets my vote, and for worst is stuff from Sony, my original PS2 banked out just after a year (and its warranty) bought it on launch date.

With the 13 different systems I have never had any problems with any of them other then my Xbox360, which has RRODed 4 times (I'm on my 5th now) and my first PS2 that has had problems reading discs, but the one I have now is pretty much fine.
I hear a lot of people have problems with sega gens but I've gone thru at least 6 and never had any break down on me although I did receive one broken one.
Edit: I can't believe I forgot my NES. I had to replace the 72 PC in it, but it works like new now.

I've had good luck with my systems. I've been rocking the same PS2 since 2001, so I haven't had the same problems others have.
I also have the same N64, SNES, and NES that I have always had. I bought all of them roughly about a year after launch. The NES is won't always start. The SNES has never had a problem, except I've gone through a lot of controllers. I think my N64 has been the most reliable for me though. I still use the same console, controller, and memory card I've had since day one.

it seems to me there's a certain really good model of PS2. The one I have, I forget... it's a phatty though. Plays CDR's (music) without mod, reads the remote control with no problem, and is a total beast.

GBA
Besides seeing an SP that was cracked in half, I cant think of one just not working. Im sure they exist though.
