Mario Kart Wii Weapons

Post by Incognito D »

Everyone hates the weapons in Mario Kart Wii. With 12 racers on the track, it's complete overkill. It's all right if you manage to pull ahead in a small group at the front, but if you're stuck in the pack, you'll be getting hit left right and centre.

But this is more than a simple rant against the weapons.

I actually like Mario Kart Wii, and it's one of those great games that anyone can enjoy.
Casual players like it, but if you want to get a 3 star ranking on every cup then you have to be an absolute ninja. So basically, it can appeal to everyone.

However, the items do no good for anyone, and here's why:

- Hardcore gamers such as myself (lol) hate the weapons because they remove the level of skill required in races and make it much more flukey and random.

- Casual gamers don't understand what all the weapons do. They can drive and steer and have fun, but then "OMG WTF what is this shit why did I just get run over by a giant bullet? Omg now I am giant for some reason!"
There are too many now. It's overkill. e.g. My Dad understands things like green sheel, red shell, banana skin (i.e. the simple classics). However, all this new shit like giant mushroom, blue shell, billy boy, etc he has no clue what to do with them.

So basically, the weapons are fail, no matter whether you be "casual" or "hardcore" (and for the record I don't like those terms).

I think they had the weapons just right with Mario Kart 64 (minus the spiney, I hate that shit so much). The thing to remember is that Mario Kart is never meant to be taken as a serious racers, the whole idea of the weapon system is to keep the race interesting up until the very end, and it does that job very well. People who are better at the game generally will beat those who suck at it, its like its own built in handicap system (higher on the leaderboard, the shitter the weapons).

While its frustrating it does its job well.

nah. Mario Karti Wii weapons imo are epic.

I can't beging describing how fun a game is, when the racers are close together, and the item setting is set on frantic. It's absolute kart carnage. I love it.

awesome game, weapons are great, make for a much more thrilling and close race.

If there were no weapons, any skille dracer who got out ahead would be abel to pull so far ahead no one could touch them. How fun is that? it's not.

For the most part, I actually like the new weapons in Mario Kart Wii.

The only two weapons I hate are the Blue Shells (annoying as fuck when your in first place and all of a sudden, you get hit by like three blue shells, putting you back in like, 7th place only having the fate of loosing.)

and the Rain Cloud... its just annoying...
