The picture is way too blurry. I think you're going to have to de-solder. Be very careful as it's easy to lift the pads on the xeno gc chip. This is why I advocate the wired install. It's too easy to mess up and then you f'up the chip and possibly the cube drive controller board.

It appears that you shorted some of the connections. I think that is a big blob where there should have been 2 separate solder connections. In other words, the hole is not to be filled for those that have 2 solder points. There are two of them on the xeno gc board.

Dunno what to say. I use a 15 watt iron. I tinned all the appropriate contacts on the motherboard first. I placed the chip over them, and I bridged the appropriate connections. I even did it under the pressure of my friend watching me, who ordered the chip himself.

I think I've officially messed up the chip beyond repair. Is there any good place I can send my Gamecube for modification?

The picture is too blurry to tell, but it looks like you bridge a connection on the chip. I remember when I did mine, two of the points on the chip were really close together. One of them bridged on me.

What did you do to the chip? You'd be surprised just how resilient some hardware can be.

There are a number of people on the forum who can do this for you, and probably for cheap I'm sure.

Well, a lot of the solder got between the pins of the chip area, and quite a bit of the contact points are burned off completely. I think I'll ask around the forums.

"Cube" over at thepurplecube.org will mod your cube or sell you a pre-modded one. See this thread: http://thepurplecube.org/forums/index.php?topic=249.0

I'm going to have to buy a Pre-modded GC since the disc drive is now broken on mine. :(

Lol, what did you do to it?

If you wanted to buy another chip and send it to me, I could put it in my Cube I have for sale here.

Or if you want to ask around on the forum. You can hunt down another Cube for VERY cheap on eBay, especially if you get one console only (as you already have the wires, controller, memory card). Then get some one to put the chip in for you. It'd be a LOT cheaper this way than buying a pre-chipped for sure.
