I totally agree Mozgus. I was fine with having to put the disc in to run but then all this bullshit came up. Its horrible. The worst being the DRM thats on Blazing Angels 1. It seriously wont work with Vista. And in XP, it causes all sorts of problems. To the point I had to reload the OS because even after uninstalling the DRM program it lovingly put itself on my hard drive for me, it decided I must be trying to get past it, and wouldn't let me launch the game anymore. Or install it.

At some point devs are going to wise up to the fact that turning every game into a tech demo is what's hurting PC sales. Since many of the traditional PC genres have gone console they seem to go the route of differentiating themselves by making the PC games have crazy high specs. So now you have two problems. The first is that now you are working with a smaller base of people who can play the game, and second is that it's very easy to fall victim to style over substance. Since the game has such high reqs people start downloading it to see how well it might run, but then they discover that the game really isn't all that good, and they don't buy it.

You've just explained what happens with 90% of PC games I play. I download em to see what they are like, find out they suck and just delete.

I agree.

And if a game has DRM I refuse to buy it, period. If I want to play it I will pirate it but I will not buy it. Too bad, they would ahve my money if they didn't fuck me over.

And yes, they are never going to outsmart the hackers. Cd keys work fine, there's no need for more crap.

I think this comic accurately describes the general opinion about the plague for PC users that is DRM. Image

Wait until everybody goes all digital. Better pucker up your cornholes because were all about to get fucked when that happens. We won't own any games then, we'll just be leasing them from game companies. I do like the digital distribution company www.gog.com no DRM at all on any of there games. DRM free games are the only PC games I play. Thats how it should be done and its the only digital distribution company that will get my business.

And yet Stardock is who made Impulse, which is what fucked me here. I can't really support your enthusiasm. StarDock's in-house games are DRM free, but unfortunately, I don't really enjoy any of them.

Yeah, I purchased from GOG before. Great service, though they should drop the idea of a minimum price point. Some of those games really arent even worth 5.99$.

Mozgus wrote:I just don't understand why DRM exists. How long until they realize that its a huge waste of time and money? There's even been games that were delayed a month because the DRM wasn't tight enough to meet the publisher's standards. Fucking ridiculous.
Could the fact that you and many others actually NEED 1TB (a thousand gb ffs) be the reason that companies think they need to do this? Sure it might not work correctly and it screws actual customers but there is obviously a reason that DRM is so commonly implemented in computer games.
