I am not a big fan of lawsuits, but I did buy all the $19.99 2K sports games... until EA monopolized the market.Madden NFL game purchasers will soon have their day in court after a U.S. District Judge recently denied Electronic Art’s (NASDAQ: ERTS) motion to dismiss a class-action lawsuit that claims the company engaged in unlawful and anticompetitive agreements that monopolized the market for football videogames and nearly doubled the price of its popular game, Madden NFL.

I'm very proud to say I've never bought any version of Madden EVER. I like video games and refuse to support such a crappy franchise. They may own the rights but it doesn't make it a better game. Many would argue that elimating the competition made the Madden corporate franchise worse.

Looks through his games. Hmm nope just got nfl 2k5 here..... Cant wait for 2k6 heard its been in the works for 3 years........../ end sarcasm

A well deserved lawsuit. EA is one of the worst video games companies out there. Maybe now we can look forward to a good football game coming out in a year or two from now. By the way, I have never bought a Madden game in my life.

Lawyer: "Your buisness practices created a monopoly!"
EA: "Excuse me sir but we make video games not board games."

I used to buy Madden all the time in the 90s and early 2000's but as of late the series has really sucked ass imo.
I thought that the NFL approached EA about the exclusive license, not the other way around. Does this case have a chance?
You don't see anyone suing Reebok for being the exclusive manufacturer of all NFL uniforms, shoes, hats, etc.
But don't get me wrong, I'm not sticking up for EA here, I'd love for a return to the days of several NFL games to choose from.

I've noticed you tend to bring up in a lot of threads how you never do this or that. Is it really necessary to inform us of your moral high ground? I'm pretty sure none of us give a fuck whether any of us buy Madden or not, unless we're looking to play a game with a fellow forum member.Inazuma wrote:A well deserved lawsuit. And calling EA one of the worst video game companies is a pretty blanket statement to make, considering how many divisions it has. It's as bad as saying Microsoft is a horrible company simply because you hate Windows. What about their other stuff, like Office or Visual Studio?

I have never once bought any "realistic" sports game. [by which I mean that the Mario Sports titles are not realistic.] I hate the lack of creativity in each game; especially since the bigger franchises like Madden release a new title annually, all they do is update the roster and add minute changes. Not a good way to spend $60, in my opinion.
