Got some birthday money and bought a PSP... next step?

ok, i bought a very good condition used silver psp slim for 57.00 bucks today. A pawn shops business has been slow so they put an ad in internet classifieds for this deal psp (only one) just to get people in. I was the first one there, so I got it. My next step is to get a memory card, and have it modded so I can play emulators!!!

So my question is, what kind of memory card should i get (size, brand) and where? I've seen some deals on ebay that look alot better than some of the other places that i trust more, so are there some I should steer clear from?

Also, anything i need to know as i persue getting it modded?

get a memory card from a legit retailer, whether online (like amazon) or box store (best buy/walmart.) I have had bad experience buying cards cheap off ebay, they sometimes dont work at all or they stop working after like a week, or the memory advertised isnt really all there. I would recommend getting an 8gig card, and as long as you get it from a legit source just get the cheapest one you can find.

As far as getting your psp "modded." If you live near a city look on craigslist for people offering services. They just have to flash custom firmware on your psp, it should only take about 5 minutes. Dont pay someone more than $20 to do it. If they offer ROMs or ISOs I would say dont do it, find this stuff yourself online.

I recommend the Photofast CR-5400 dual micro SD to MS Pro adapter. They're like $4 from dealextreme.com. I bought 2 high speed Transcend 8 GB SDHC cards for $17 (free shipping) so I ended up with a 16GB card for under $40.

Agreed with gtmtnbiker, the 2 MicroSD converter is usually the cheapest way to go - I made a 16GB card for cheaper than buying an 8 gig Pro Duo. Check out newegg.com for deals on memory cards and other hardware.

Yeah, I would agree as well get a 4GB or 8GB memory stick Sony or Sandisk..

Ok, that is sweet, i just ordered the $4 adapter from dealextreme. I just happened to have a 8 gig micro sitting around from a camera:)

Anywhere from 1-3 weeks. The nice thing about dealextreme is free shipping and they also provide a tracking number.

8GB sandisk FTW, don't ever buy any cheap ones they are slower when transfering files from pc. Don't have experience with the microsd adapters but seems cheaper solution, would like to see comparison of reading speed and compatibility versus pro duo cards.

Modding is getting easier, you can do it yourself with the latest ChickHEN no need for pandora battery anymore but if you are not into that then get someone to do it for you but don't pay more than $20 maybe.

Have you done the chickHEN mod? It looks easy enough, the only thing that scares me is the fact that they said if you have the wrong motherboard you could brick the machine.
I looked at the guide for finding out what motherboard i have, and it doesn't help. I hope i don't have to open the thing up.

Are there psp slim models that can't be modded, even with pandora?
