If someone set out to create a casual game but it ended up being really good, it wouldn't be referred to as a casual game. Funny isn't it? The term "Casual game" is merely an excuse to put out a shitty game, in order to get people to like it when they normally wouldn't.

"This game sucks! Oh wait, it's a casual game? Oh ok, I guess it's not so bad then, since it's pretty decent for what it is."

Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of the motion controls myself. I opt NOT to use them whenever possible. However there are some instances where the motion controls were great. Mario Galaxy, when you have to balance on the big ball.

I was actually just thinking about this a few days ago. If I HAD to choose to sell either my Wii or my PS3, I would hands down sell the PS3. There are far more games for Wii that I, personally, like. And besides, most of the better games for PS3 I could just get on PC (Bioshock, GTA4, COD4/WaW, etc) anyway. (and for the record I do own the COD's for PC).

I can't believe the amount of shit the Wii gets. It is what it is, and it doesn't claim to be anything it's not. I think its fucking fantastic that Nintendo decided to make us a console with a point of keeping cost and physical size down. I would never buy a PS3 for $600, that's out of control, and the $400 that I did by mine for is borderline. You can't justify to me spending more than $400 on a console. If it cost more than that it better have mind control or something.

I think the most interesting to take away from that graph is that it's almost 10 years since it was first released, but the PS2 is still managing to compete with the X-box 360 and PS3 in console sales. I think the awesomeness of the PS2 coupled with its current dirt cheap prices is what largely keeps the 360 and PS3 from soaring.

Love the input fellas!

Yes i give mad props to the PS2 for still staying strong. it deserves it.

I am a little disgusted with Nintendo right now, so of course i feel a little Anti-Wii inside....

I don't understand: what kind of motion controls did you expect? Motion is the most novel part of Wii controls, but also the least useful in a general sense.

The only practical examples of motion controls that I can think of are sports games, which have been covered reasonably well. (Golf and Tennis games in particular go a long way towards justifying owning a Wii, as do a couple of the light-hearted racing games.) Beyond that what "hardcore" applications of motion did you want to see? Sword fighting is the big dream for many people, but 1-to-1 controls weren't possible so it really wouldn't be a great game.

Oh, and it would seem a bit hasty to judge a console after only playing 3 games. Everyone enjoys different types of games, and there's nothing wrong with that. Wii also isn't the best choice for everyone. But it's not an "insult to gaming" either. LOL

I actually I did think I will be fighting with a sword in a hack and slash game. I thought the Wii can be a screw driver to loosen car radios and steel them, I can punch in a street fight, whatever, the possibilities are limitless . I never thought it would be like, shake the wiimote if you want to jump, move the wiimote on the menu screen to chose an option.

It's a simple case of the bigger they are, the harder they fall.

The decline is only so steep because a ridiculous amount were sold in the year prior. They're somewhat between cycles right now. While I do believe there is some merit to the market saturation and novelty-wearing-off arguments, just wait until Q4 and watch the numbers jump way up once again. IF this continues around Xmas time, then we'll talk.

The reason that the Wii is in 'decline' right now has already been stated. It's saturated. My mum has one, my granddad has one. I have two (I've owned 5). Nearly every single person I know has one. I know some households that have two and sometimes three! The Wii will be almost as prevalent as DVD players. I think Nintendo did a great thing.

Next thing we'll see is TV's with built in Wii's that use the Wiimote to change channels.

I'm not saying the system is the greatest system ever. However it has had quite a lot of good games, I own nearly 30 games that I've thoroughly enjoyed playing for the system (not counting the numerous DLC I have, thanks bit-gamer), That's nearly as many as I own for my 360 and three times as many games as I own for my PS3. Plus it always gets used when friends are around.

I'd hardly consider Nintendo spitting on anyone, especially not hardcore gamers. It's because of Nintendo that gaming has become a much more acceptable pass time. If it means my nan can talk about Wii fit or Wii Tennis then I can only say that that's a good thing.

I think we all need to remember that Nintendo isn't a consumer electronics company. They are a toy company, always have been. A very successful and innovative one as well.

Well done Nintendo.

also a fucking price drop could help. FFS it's nearly 3 years without a single price drop.

Though don't think they'll drop the price before Christmas. Probably by April 2010.

But if the world's economy becomes better (and from what I've heard Japan, Germany and France are already out of the crisis) I don't think they'll drop it even then.

I have been considering one, and there is a pretty hefty amount of good games. I might not play it as much as my 360, but there are still good games. Off the top of my head
Zelda Twilight princess
mario galaxy
mario cart
SSBB
metroid prime three
no more heroes
red steel
boom blox
house of the dead overkill
house of the dead 2 and 3
mad world

and there will be good games STILL coming out for it, like SILENT HILL!!!! There are enough games on the wii to warrant a play.
