question regarding NEO4ALL for dreamcast

Post by ac_90 »

i can get everything running perfectly except for puzzle bobble. i must have downloaded that game from at least 12 different websites by now and it refuses to be converted to .aes format! i've never been so frustrated!

3/4 of the copies i got said "invalid romset" or something to that extend, so i figured they were just bad dumps. but the last 1/4 of them that had the last shred of hope, everytime i try to run ncGUI to convert them to .aes format, the fuckin program just freezes on me! AAAAAAAH!

can anyone help at all? or perhaps provide some sort-of link that has puzzle bobble already in .aes format or at least a rom that actually works?

i was googling a lot last night trying to figure it out and i think it might have something to do with the names of the files within the pbobblen.zip folder that the rom came in. any help at all is greatly appreciated!

thanks

Helpful...

The only thing I can suggest is try and download as many different romsets as possible and seeing what files are in which. I know NeoGeo emulation can be a bit finicky sometimes, especially when you have a certain file named wrong or you are missing a certain file out of a romset.

What I do is download as many different versions of the romset as possible. Look at the files within, and copy them to another folder and add any files you find that are different to it. Then make another zip file and then try that.

PS Moving to the Emulation forum since this is about Emulation.

ok i figured it out on my own. if anyone else is having the same problem it's a pretty simple fix.

download the rom from a reputable site that you know will work. then, there's a file called "romrc" in the convertneo folder. you have to open it with notepad, find the rom that you're trying to convert within the list, and then change any file names that are different to match all the ones that are in the .zip of your actual rom. once they're all the same it will work.

thanks for the help anyways guys
