Will it be high forever? As much as I think Microsoft are a bunch of incompetent tools, I'd have to say after enough revisions they'd eventually get the hardware right.

I mean... nobody can screw up that often. .... can they?

I don't think that it's much their concern at this point. People in general have been willing to purchase them regardless of their flaws, so it's not like Microsoft is really getting punished by consumers for the most part. Also, with console sales slowing down, it might no longer be considered an option because they wouldn't make a lot of money off it. It seems like circumstance might stand between us and a reliable 360.

My question is, what happens to the downloadable content? If Microsoft eventually remove games and other content from their service, will 360's with rare XBLA games stored on the HDD became super valuable?
now THAT's an interesting question. i always assumed that downloadable content had a resale value of exactly zero.
I think eventually enthusiasts will find a way to dump them and transfer them from the PC to their 360. They will probably become worthless.

Well supposedly, the Jasper chipset of the Xbox 360 is the "better" version. Recently, my Xbox died (for the 2nd time) and I replaced it with a Jasper version. It runs a lot quieter than the two 360s I've had before, and I haven't had any problems with it <knock on wood>. I think that Microsoft is finally getting to a point of stability now (i hope)- but it is sad that it took this long to get a quality product. In the future a working Xbox 360 might in fact be a rare thing.

All I know is that I keep mine in a well ventilated spot. Always have, it's not in a media center, which contrary to what most people think is NOT WELL VENTILATED. Well ventilated means at least half a foot all around the system for adequate cooling. Mine has been like this since launch and it's never failed on me yet.

If I see another person complain that their 360 has RRoD despite being well ventilated and I find out they kept it in a media centre I'm gonna scream.

I love my xbox 360, only RRoD'd once. I will probably get one or two when the price drops so I can have a back up and possibly sell it later on.

you'd have to be pretty stupid to buy a used 360. people can do the towel trick to make it work temporarily after they get the 3 red lights, and you can't tell if the system's been banned from xbox live unless you're actually there to try playing a game online

I'm talking about the future, where the 360 is no longer sold new, and the servers for Live are down permanently...
